Half-inch NPT ports turn up on compressor tanks, manifold blocks and larger regulators, while the tubing leaving them is often far smaller. This elbow bridges that step in one part: a 1/2 inch NPT male thread on one side, a 1/4 inch OD tube collet on the other, turned through ninety degrees.

A right angle that keeps the tube off the tank

An elbow body takes the tubing away across the face of the port rather than straight out of it, which is what stops a run kinking against a tank shoulder or a bench edge. The supplier states the connector rotates freely through 360 degrees, so direction can be set after the thread is wound home. A fixed elbow forces a choice between a properly sealed thread and a sensible tube angle.

Getting the thread right

NPT is tapered and seals on the flanks as they wedge together, not on a face or a washer. It wants tape or liquid sealant and a firm wind-in, and a thread of the wrong standard will weep however hard it is done up. A BSP port of the same nominal size will start on it and feel almost right, because what differs is pitch and flank angle rather than diameter. Confirm what your port is before ordering. The supplier does not publish a tightening torque.
