Keeping the pile alive

• Fabric softener is what kills microfibre. It coats the fibres so they stop taking up water, so use a mild detergent on its own and keep bleach away.
• Wash them apart from cotton towels, fleece and anything else that sheds lint into the loops.
• Tumble dry on low or hang them, since high heat stiffens the fibre for good.
