Most VW and Audi faults never reach a generic code reader. A Golf with an ABS light, a door module that has forgotten a key, an adaptation left unset after a clutch job: a cheap dongle reports "manufacturer specific" and stops there. This USB interface talks to those modules directly, on the protocols the workshop uses, for VAG cars built between 1996 and 2017.

Reaches past the emissions channels

Generic scanners only see standardised OBD2 data. This cable addresses control modules over KWP-2000, covering 2001-on Teves Mk.60 ABS units and 2002-on modules, KWP6000 across CAN and KWP7000 (UDS) on later architectures, with direct CAN where the car uses it. Extra UDS addresses cover newer systems. Auto-Scan reports subsystem label file names as it runs, so a fault arrives with a readable module name rather than a bare address.

Coding and key matching, not just code reading

Reading a fault is the easy half. The interface handles the write side too: adaptation channels, module coding, and key matching with 7-digit PIN/SKC codes on immobiliser-equipped VAG cars. Mileage can be pulled from EDC15 and EDC16 ECUs, including selected EDC15 V6 TDI units. More than 350 label files have been added or reworked and the ROD (ODX) data revised to cover later chassis such as the Audi A6 4G, which is what turns raw channel numbers into something you can act on.

Read this before ordering

This is a third-party compatible interface, not an official Ross-Tech product, and is intended for non-commercial use. Coverage stops at 2017; for 2018-on models the genuine Ross-Tech HEX-V2 is the correct purchase. Software is supplied by the manufacturer as a download, and installation and setup are the buyer's responsibility.
