Corroded battery clamps cause faults that look far more expensive than they are — slow cranking, dipping lights, a charging system reading low. A terminal that has furred up under the lead is often the entire problem, and a fresh pair is the cheapest thing you can change in an engine bay.
Brass at the post, and what that buys you
Both clamps are brass. That is the whole argument for them: brass conducts well and resists the white sulphate crust that eats lead clamps from the inside out, so the joint stays tight and the resistance stays where it should. One clamp is finished red for positive and one black for negative, so there is no guessing under a bonnet at night. The clamping thread is given as M8.
Measure your posts before ordering
The supplier calls these universal and then, in the same breath, gives specific post diameters: 19 mm at the head of the positive post and 17 mm at the negative. Those numbers are what decide whether a clamp closes properly, so take the specific figures over the general claim and check them against your own battery. They are listed for top post batteries, and for side post batteries only where standard post adapters are already fitted. Rated voltage is 12 V or 24 V.
Key features
- Sold as a pair: one positive and one negative, colour-coded red and black.
- Brass clamps: conduct better and corrode far less than the lead they replace.
- M8 clamping thread: the fastener size the supplier specifies.
- Sized to standard posts: 19 mm positive head, 17 mm negative head.
Specifications
- Quantity: 1 pair (1 x positive, 1 x negative)
- Material: brass
- Colour: red (positive) and black (negative)
- Voltage: 12 V or 24 V
- Screw thread: M8
- Post diameter: 19 mm positive head, 17 mm negative head
- Dimensions: 5.5 x 3.5 x 2.5 cm
- Weight: 150 g
- Tightening torque: not published by the supplier
Before you fit these
- Disconnect the negative terminal first and reconnect it last.
- No tightening torque is published. Brass strips readily, so bring the clamp up firm and re-check after a short drive rather than leaning on a spanner.
- Measure your posts against the 19 mm and 17 mm figures — a clamp that will not close is the most common reason these come back.
- The supplier lists the pair of terminals only; no cable, lugs or other hardware is stated as included.
Check the post sizes, clean the lead back to bright metal, and you have a sound connection at both ends.
