An Android box, not just a pass-through dongle

Two ways to get a data connection

Tether to your phone's hotspot, or drop a NANO SIM in the slot and let the box carry its own data. The supplier lists LTE-FDD, LTE-TDD, WCDMA, GSM and EDGE, so the formats top out at 4G LTE. A TF card slot sits beside the SIM; if a card is not read as FAT32, format it exFAT.

• The car needs factory wired CarPlay or Android Auto already. This converts a wired interface; it cannot add one.
• Supplier suits it to cars built after 2018 and asks buyers to check compatibility. Its exclusion list arrived incomplete: the Leaf is named, others are not.
• Pack list states the adapter alone, while the description mentions two connection cables.
• Aftermarket unit, not an Apple or Google product, and carries no certification from either.
